Description: The Countess X is an early [and possibly the best] example of Jean Rollins' xxx period. Made before he had totally abandoned style, humour and plot and beautifully shot on 35mm film. It features some of the best actors and actresses from the period. This release of Countess X has been restored from the original negatives in HD-quality widescreen, making this the best possible version of the film.The piano heavy jazz score courtesy of Didier William Lepauw (Lips Of Blood and The Seduction Of Amy) is excellent.The Countess X is a must for fans of Jean Rollin and those that appreciate erotic films from the seventies. Released on a very nice-looking DVD from Njuta Films in Sweden. IMDB lists this film as a ADULT / COMEDY/ MYSTERY which tells me they believe there's more going on here than the many mindless porn videos that Rollin made during the 1970's & 80's. Also a check of the Njuta Films website shows that they are not a porn distribution house. They generally release collections by cult directors or films which have some unusual quality or exceptional merit worthy of this type of DVD restoration and attention. This is the only hardcore Rollin film they have included in their Jean Rollin Collection. It's not much of a secret that in order to keep working in between the arthouse/horror films that he obviously put far more of himself into, Jean Rollin made porno movies. Commercially viable at the time, these projects allowed him to make a living and his stamp is still evident throughout some of this work, a good example being 1976's Countess X. The movie begins when a masked thief roams around the forest outside a stately home. She heads in, tries to grab the jewelry but is interrupted. From here she sets into motion her master plan. She somehow learns that a group of very wealthy people will be gathering together at a huge old mansion out in the country for a day of ing and debauchery. She decides that since none of the attendees know the true identity of the party's host, known only as Countess X, that she'll assume the host's identity, the champagne to distract the attendees, and make off with all of their jewelry. Eventually of course, the true Countess X (Karine Gambier), shows up. Rachel Mhas, who also worked on adult films Vibrations Sexualles, The Seduction Of Amy and The Night Of The Hunted for director Rollin, makes for an interesting lead here. She's got a mischievous and slinky sort of sex appeal to her that makes her fun to watch and she seems to be having a good time skulking around playing the burglar.

Description: This was the Grand Prize Winner at the Amsterdam Adult Film Festival in 1971. But don't hold that against it. It's actually a tightly-paced, sexy chunk of hardcore filmmaking. It's well-made (for a change) and the tantalizing cast of moist starlets provide some erotic fireworks. Richard has got it made. He's an ultra-cool sweet-talker who preys on women divorcing their husbands. Men actually pay him to seduce their wives. He lures them into his web, smooth-talks them into chewing on his baloney, then hires a photographer to snap incriminating photos of them cheating on their husbands. Goodbye alimony! Richard's cohort in slime is a sleazebag lawyer (John Dunn, who was in Ego Trip). He introduces the womanizer to a six-pack of sexed-up sirens (including RAINBOW ROBBINS, star of Motel For Lovers) leading to some X-cellent porn-o-rama. But lover boy gets a taste of his own medicine when a belligerent she-devil blackmails him into doing her homo hubby. He objects: "I don't do fags!" She replies, "For the money I'm offering most guys would make it with a kangaroo." It all ends with the "cocky" bastard getting his cummuppance. All the women he dicked around descend on him like vampires. They don't want money, they want "inches!" Richard is forced to bang the six gals. "One every day of the week." Well, at least I've got Sunday off," he reasons. Nope. In walks the flaming fruitcake who blows him a kiss.
